forget all other measurements etc ... the width was perfect at camber today

Managed to do 'chores' early, and got to Camber 11.30am ish, avoided the recce trip to figure what width kit to lug over the dunes as Alan had just done the trip and reported 5.5-6.0m & 100 ltr to be sensible (go figure your own widths if that's how you play)

Sailed on 3S 97 & 5.7m Expression in glorious conditions, sunshine, sandy beach, cross-on winds, not as much white-water as previously experienced at Jury's, short arm 3mm suit, barefoot, bare head, bare hands & enjoyed this until my body said it was time to stop. No kiters in the shallows, they were all up at Jury's waiting for the tide to drop a bit ... there were over 40 kiters out from Jurys by time we were cream crackered, reckon there were 20 windsurfers enjoying all the space ... bet Shoreham was like the M25 in rush hour in comparision.

The walk is definately a ball-ache, but the results are worth the effort when you get days like this .... today was one of those days to re-iterate to ourselves why it is that we windsurf

Good to catch up with the camber crew (RichC, Stu O-Hume, Tim Bass, Alan, Chris, Sean, Rob, Mike, and nice to see Gutted make the trip and it work out just right) ... apologies to Stu ... my forward attempts were 'not even close', though coming back in 'backside wave riding' and 'smacking it off the lip' were causing me plenty of entertainment on the 3S .....

Rob was another giving it the forwards treatment, approx 2kgs of Dr Ding later he was back on the water .... sadly he wasn't the only one needing remedial repairs to his board ... some wally stubbed his toe as hooking in and tripped the rail on some white water, instant forward loop training manouvre and a little smile on the nose that didn't make me smile .... bit of UV cure to seal her up and back on the water ....

Not sure if it was sea breeze or just the forecast but max i saw in windguru was 14knots, and i was pretty well powered up on a 5.7m .... had the van been closer I'd probably have rigged my 5.4m, but as it was a bit of an expedition, I carried on with the 5.7m until i could sail no more ...

Whatever the width, I'll be buying my 99p tape measure and sizing up a few more session like this one over coming months, to ensure the width is just right .... best session this year by a long way ...
